Imaging & Optics Facility Info & Support

Hereby an overview of the central communication channels and information platforms for requesting Support from the Imaging & Optics Facility (please note the order of listing).
The Imaging and Optics Facility is distributed over ISTA Campus and divided in 3 main hubs. Each “hub” has service support offices where IOF staff is situated
  1. Berthalanffy Foundation building (room i04.EG.037)
  2. Lab Building East (room i06.EG.108)
  3. Moonstone Building (room i24.EG.022)

Each “hub” has a local infrastructure coordinator (Building Representative). More detailed room and infrastructure information can be found on our IOF on ISTA campus-page

1. Website

Our website contains all relevant information about the system specification, services provided, application information and guidelines (https://iof.pages.ist.ac.at/) → please try the search option too!

 
2. E-mail ticketing system
  • Emails sent to IOF@ist.ac.at are queued in our central ticketing system →  the responsible person will reply to your query!
  • Emails sent to cytometry@ist.ac.at are queued in our central ticketing system →  the cytometry team will reply to your query!
3. IOF on ISTA Rocket Chat

ISTA chat can be reached from our equipment (www.chat.ist.ac.at), or via your mobile phone (browser or app). The following Imaging & Optics Facility channels are available:

  • #IOF_microscopy: immediate (remote) issues for microscopy & image analysis
  • #IOF_cytometry: immediate (remote) issues for cytometry
  • Optional: Direct messaging with Imaging & Optics Facility staff for more detailed remote troubleshooting

! Rocket-chat is provided by IST Austria – with help from its IT department. It is a campus-wide ‘slack-like’ chat option (more info) that can be used via web browser as well as mobiles App (download site).

  • The Rocket Chat allows a ‘notification management’ – in order not to be spammed by the shared channel(s)
  • Please refrain from using WhatsApp or Signal for direct messaging of IOF staff

4. Telephone: during core facility hours, we can be reached on +43-(0)2243 9000-2151. This is a land-line → your call might not be answered in case no Imaging & Optics Facility staff members available in the office!

5. Mailing lists & Cancellation emails
  • Information Mailing lists: imaging[at]lists.ist.ac.at is solely by the Imaging & Optics facility staff to send out relevant notification about IOF guidelines, news and events → mostly summarized the IOF weekly update.  This list is obligatory to all users of the Imaging & Optics Facility: all users will be added to this list by the Imaging & Optics Facility staff
  • Cancellation Mailing lists: imaging-cancellation[at]lists.ist.ac.at is to be used to send out emails ‘from users to users’ of the Imaging & Optics Facility. This is an additional non-obligatory mailing list, for which you can sign up via ICP self-service. This mailing list is to send out notifications for late cancellations (< 24h before start of your session)
