The team of the Imaging & Optics Facility shows how microscopes and ‘cytometers’ assist the researchers of ISTA in their daily quest to entangle the mechanism of various biological processes / enhance scientific insights. The tour in the Imaging & Optics Facility consists of 2 parts:
1) First we introduce you to the concept of ‘flow cytometry’: a methodology that allows researchers to isolate single specific cell population out of a mix of many.
2) In the second part we will show that not all microscopes are the same and highlight some of the newest imaging techniques that are currently used in research.
Finally, we will showcase an gallery of beautiful images contributed by scientist that make use of our machine park. Participants of the tour are asked to vote on favorite image. The winning image will be added to our wall of fame, that we are also proud to show during our tour.
